Everybody loves a before and after… here’s another one. 🙂
Last week I picked up this writing desk from a great little consignment shop called Panache. They just moved to Burnside Road in Saanich. Check them out if you get a chance.
I gave it a good cleaning and had to sand out a couple of raised spots on the top.
The top and the body was painted with a mix of Graphite and Old Ochre.
The second coat is Old Ochre. Love this colour!
First a little wet distress, clear wax, lots of dark wax and a little more distressing.
The finished piece in the showroom.
Love the pop of Scandinavian Pink inside the drawers.
Drop by 1850 Oak Bay Ave and see it in person!
Think you will enjoy this charming little video from Ireland.
Running time: 8 minutes.
Watch Annie Sloan demonstrate a two-colour distressing technique with clear wax.
Thunderstorms were forecasted for the day of our market… Yikes! We set up in a bit of a drizzle which was intermittent for most of the day. Despite the weather we had a great time! The vendors had fantastic goods and it was hard not to want to spend the money that I made. ☺
I did a few demonstration of the paint and people seemed to really enjoy that.
Almost everything in my booth has been “Sloaned”! ☺
These sewing boxes are also great for jewelry or makeup.
The market was held here at Point Ellice House.
The vendors were set up here and all throughout the gardens.
The little Harbour Ferry stops at Point Ellice House dock.
We hope to make this an annual event. Special thanks to Sheila at French Vanilla Home and Garden who not only came up with the idea but organized the entire market!
